Learn more about Dr. Scott L. Silverstein and his team providing total knee replacement care to the Greater Baltimore Maryland and Washington D.C. areas.

A ski vacation at Gore Mountain in New York was supposed to be a bargain. A torn ACL changed the plan—and set a young Dr. Silverstein on a path toward orthopaedic surgery.
Originally from Pittsburgh, Dr. Silverstein earned his undergraduate degree at Boston University and his medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at West Virginia University Hospitals, where he served as chief resident. He later worked there as an assistant professor and education director, helping train future doctors.
Over the next 25 years, Dr. Silverstein continued to pursue the interest in orthopaedics that began on Gore Mountain, focusing specifically on knee replacement. Today, he continues to refine his surgical techniques and study new research, always looking for ways to improve the experience for his patients.
In 2007, Dr. Silverstein joined Orthopaedic Associates of Central Maryland. Founded in 1969, the practice has deep ties to the community—connections that remain an important part of his work today.

“The ability to move freely is an ordinary privilege with extraordinary value.”
Dr. Silverstein describes himself as a good listener. His care philosophy brings together compassionate care, clinical and technical excellence, teamwork and innovation. New techniques and medicines are considered thoughtfully, with evidence and the patient’s needs guiding the discussion.
Outside the office, he enjoys weight training, travel and time with his wife and twins. He climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in 2000 and remains an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins fan.
