KNEE ARTHRITIS & KNEE REPLACEMENT

A muscle-sparing approach.
A personal path forward.

Quadriceps-sparing knee replacement, thoughtful pain management and recovery support—all focused on helping you return to the life you enjoy.

WHEN KNEE PAIN GETS IN THE WAY

Your knee shouldn’t
limit your life.

Knee arthritis can make everyday movement painful and keep you from doing the things you love.

You may have lived with arthritis for years and tried medications, injections, arthroscopy or physical therapy without lasting relief. When pain is affecting your life, a consultation can help you understand whether knee replacement is the next step for you. Dr. Silverstein takes time to hear your symptoms, review your condition and discuss your goals.

A second opinion is welcome. The decision to have surgery should be based on your individual needs and an informed conversation with your surgeon.

Discuss your options
THE APPROACH

Quadriceps-sparing.
Recovery-focused.

The quadriceps-sparing approach avoids cutting the quadriceps muscle in the front of the thigh. Dr. Silverstein combines this technique with an approach that avoids a tourniquet.

The goal is to support earlier muscle function and a more comfortable early recovery. Personalized pain-management strategies, careful preparation and rehabilitation are also important parts of the plan.

These are treatment goals, not guarantees. Benefits, risks, recovery time and suitability vary from person to person. Dr. Silverstein will discuss them with you.

“The body has an extraordinary capacity to heal. Our responsibility is to respect that process, not rush it.”
A COMPLETE PLAN FOR YOUR CARE

Not just the procedure.
The whole experience.

Your surgeon, personally

Dr. Silverstein personally performs the knee-replacement procedure. His private-practice approach means he does your surgery himself, rather than handing critical parts to residents or fellows.

Outpatient when appropriate

Many patients go home on the day of surgery. Your health, home support and post-operative progress determine the safest plan.

Rehabilitation that fits you

Physical therapy and, when appropriate, rehabilitation technology such as the ROMtech bike support a personalized recovery program.

KNOW WHAT TO ASK

A clear conversation.
A confident decision.

  • Am I a candidate for quadriceps-sparing replacement?
  • What are the benefits and risks in my situation?
  • What will my pain-management plan look like?
  • What support will I need at home?
  • What should I expect from physical therapy?
